NOLA Eats Fall Harvest Potluck Dinner

I know you guys are busy tilling the cows and milking the crops or whatever, but let’s take a break and enjoy the foods that are prime pickings for autumn dishes.  This Sunday, October 25th at 6:00 PM will be the first of what I hope will become an annual event, the NOLA Eats Fall Harvest Potluck. Since they did such a great job for my birthday party, the venue will be the Ernie K-Doe Mother-In-Law Lounge. Whether you make it or buy it, bring a “comfort food” dish, something that gives you the warm fuzzies this time of year.

If you’re interested in attending,  please comment below with your name, how you heard about the potluck and which dish you will be sharing. If your dish requires heat or refrigeration, please plan accordingly. It’s probably a good idea to bring a serving utensil, as well.  All drinks, alcoholic and otherwise, can be purchased at the bar. One lucky person that hates to cook will be designated as the Bringer of All That is Paper and Plastic. Good luck fighting over that one.

Don’t know how to get to the Mother-In-Law Lounge? Click here! If you have any super secret private questions, feel free to email me: Leslie(at)nola-eats(dot)com

I'll be late as I have a previous engagement.
  • Just happy you'll be joining us :D
  • Hey, y'all. Looks like we'll have a great turn out on Sunday! I just got back from my vacation to Argentina, and I bought a box of alfajores specifically to share with the NOLA Eats crew. Alfajores are the national dessert/sweet/snack/confection of Argentina. They are cookie sandwiches with dulce de leche (caramel) in the middle. Yum!

I'll also try to hit the farmers' market tomorrow and see if I can find some inspiration for a savory dish.
  • I love alfajores! Freddy's family makes them for every wedding and baby shower. I'm glad you guys aren't too pooped from your trip.

Since I apparently have no creativity in my brain right now to come up with something new, do you have room for the cheeseball?
  • becky hicks
Mmmmmm. Cheeseball. This will be a orange party looks like! Right up my alley!
  • Haha. Maybe we can have an orange fashion show. Whoever is the most orange, wins a pumpkin.
  • But of course! That's a win/win if I've ever seen one.
  • Another first time joiner, here! I follow you on twitter, Leslie, which is how I found out about the potluck. I think I'm going to bring a pie. Not sure what type yet...it'll be a surprise! Hope that's ok.
  • Sounds great, Amara. Thanks for following/joining us!
  • i'll be joining for the first time!
bringing carmelized onion and butternut squash casserole

    and maybe something sweet....
  • Fabulous x2!

I read your bio for your blog. I am right there with you about clean, fresh flavors and the champagne tastes/beer budget conundrum.
  • need a DJ for this event?
  • Really? You're not going crazy right now with all your obligations? Hit me up on chat when you can.
  • We will bring some apple cake...and maybe some homemade ice cream. Will there be a freezer that I can use?
  • I'm not certain that there is, Lindsay, but I can find out for you. I know my birthday cake, which had a delicate topping, was taken out of the cooler prematurely because Ms. Betty was concerned with it freezing. So, maybe it will keep frozen just long enough to make it to dessert. Or, we might just have to eat dessert first. Oh, darn!
  • i'd like to attend! i can make chili (has meat in it) OR a pumpkin cheesecake.
  • Hmm, how about that chili? Seems like we've already got a few "orange" dishes spoken for. Mmmmm, chili...
  • Emmy and Nate
We'll bring chipotle mashed sweet potatoes.
  • That sounds just mildly spectacular. Thanks for joining in!
  • becky hicks
Sweet Potato and bbq bean casserole, dinner rolls!
  • Your bbq bean casserole will be a first for me. I'm looking forward to it!

Thinking of something involving pumpkin....a savory dish.
  • Rene, you temptress, you.
