During my morning drive to work, I fired up Slacker Radio on my Blackberry Storm and searched for The Misfits, which created The Misfits Radio Station for me. Singing (or shouting) along to the music, I began to think back to the punk and metal karaoke nights at The Shim Sham (now One Eyed Jacks) and Lounge Lizards (I don’t even know what’s there now). I can’t help but wish we had something like this in the city again, as I loathe just sitting in a bar or dancing to the same old music. I want to be entertained! Well, that got me thinking about band names and I wondered, what good punk and metal band names can be made up from the names of popular New Orleans food items. To be fair, there is a local band ingeniously named Los Po-boy-citos, but as talented as they are, they don’t exactly fit the bill of metal or punk. So, here are a few I came up with:

• Bathed In Bloody Mary (metal)

• Agent Orange Drank (punk, obvs.)

• Oyster Hangover (punk)

• Sazerac Heart Attack (speed metal)

• Crustacean Manifestation (sludge metal)

• The Muffs (already in use, unfortunately)

I could probably go on and on with these, but I would love to hear what you guys can come up with.
